In a recent follow-up study of 77 562 women in the Nurses' Health Study and 40 866 men in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study, the link between the development of macular degeneration and the consumption of fruit was examined. The results showed that people over the age of 50 who ate at least 3 servings of fruit per day were less likely to develop macular degeneration than those who consumed less than 1.5 servings per day. This once again shows the value of eating a diverse diet which consists of at least 3-5 portions of raw fruit per day and an abundance of vegetables! Kind regards
