Viral or bacterial infections are best dealt with as soon as you realize you’re falling ill.
Here are some ideas of what to do

1) Increase you water consumption
2) Use steam inhalations if the infection is in the respiratory tract (Place just-boiled water in a cup. Carefully inhale the steam through your nose and exhale through your mouth. DON'T burn! Do this 5 or more times per day)
